Make APA citations, without the ads

Fill in a few details, or paste a DOI or ISBN, and get a correctly formatted APA 7th edition citation with its in-text version. Build your reference list and copy it into Word or Google Docs.

Reference list

Citations you add appear here, sorted alphabetically. They are kept in this browser only.

    Citation styles

APA 7 is used in psychology, education and the social sciences. MLA 9 is common in literature and the humanities. Chicago author-date suits history and the sciences, and Harvard is widely used at universities in the UK and Australia. Check which style your teacher, school or journal asks for.

Fill in from a DOI or ISBN

Most journal articles have a DOI, and most books have an ISBN. Paste either one and the details are filled in from the Crossref and Open Library catalogues. That lookup is the only thing this page sends anywhere, and only when you press Fill in.

    In-text citations

Under each citation you get the matching in-text citation, such as (Smith & Lee, 2021) in APA or (Smith and Lee 52) in MLA. Add the page number yourself when you quote directly.

    Privacy

No account, no ads and no tracking. Your reference list is saved in this browser so it is still there when you come back, and you can clear it at any time.

    Questions

    Are these citations correct?

    Can I export to Word?

Yes. Press Copy all and paste into Word or Google Docs. The italics come along.
