Two kinds of carousel

A split carousel cuts one wide picture, such as a panorama or a long design, into slides that line up exactly, so the picture flows as people swipe. Text slides turn a list of points into a clean set of cards with a big title, a short body, your name and a slide number, the format that does well on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Questions

Which size should I use?

4:5 at 1080 × 1350 takes up the most room in the Instagram and LinkedIn feeds. Square 1080 × 1080 suits Facebook and older Instagram grids. Every slide in a carousel has the same shape.

How do I post a PDF carousel on LinkedIn?

Download the PDF, start a post on LinkedIn, choose to add a document and pick the file. Each page becomes a swipeable slide. For Instagram, use the images in the zip instead, in order.

How many slides can I make?

Up to ten for a split image, which is the most Instagram shows in one post in many places. Text carousels can have up to twenty slides.

Will the split slides line up?

Yes. The picture is scaled once and cut at exact slide edges, so nothing is lost or repeated between slides. If the picture is not wide enough, the top and bottom are trimmed to keep the slides full.
